Drying out flowers to frame. Place a paper towel on top of the glass tray insert in the bottom of your microwave. Once you hang the flowers, they will do the rest. Here’s the steps to take when air drying flowers:
The paper towel layers keep the flowers from sticking to the unglazed terracotta, and they also pad the flower a bit as it dries, so that it doesn’t crumble to bits between the heavy top and bottom layers that it’s sandwiched between. So just be careful not to microwave them too long. Prepare your flowers by removing unwanted leaves.
Once the flowers are dried they retain their color and basic shape, making them suitable for framing as pieces of. Cover the flowers with another piece of tissue paper, then the newspaper, and then cardboard. You really can’t go wrong.
They will keep drying inside of the frame and even if they stay in place while you create the arrangement, they could get thinner over time and slide down. Hanging bouquets upside down is the most traditional technique for drying flowers. Once dry, remove and use for decor!

Make sure none of the flowers touch one another or hang over the side of the tissue paper. Arrange the flowers and leaves in any artistic way you like! Smaller flowers will take far less time, so keep an eye out after about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
If you don’t have a glass tray, use a glass microwave safe baking dish or fire brick on the bottom of the microwave. Gather the flowers in a bunch and secure the stems with a rubber band. Tie one end of the yarn around a hanger and the other around the sunflower's stem.
To hold them in place, use a clear glue to adhere them to the glass, just so they are less likely to slide around. Line the flowers on newspaper, plain, white paper, tissues or blotting paper (any paper that can absorb moisture) and place another sheet on top. Leave at least 2 inches of stems beyond the rubber band.
Place the flower on the parchment paper and replace the top of the flower press. Let it sit for three to four weeks. If you’re drying larger flowers like roses or hydrangeas then they’ll need to be on their own.

Next, sandwich the flowers between the two. Strip excess foliage from flowers and cut stems to desired length (no shorter than six inches). Continue wrapping the rubber band around the stem.
